Key points

  1. MOUZ has finally won its first Tier 1 Dota 2 tournament since its big win in 2013 at RaidCall EMS One Summer Season.
  2. MOUZ was sent to the lower bracket very early in the playoffs after losing its very first series against PARAVISION.
  3. MOUZ is now competing at BLAST Slam V, just two days after winning the tournament.

MOUZ finally won its first Tier 1 Dota 2 tournament since its RaidCall EMS One Summer Season win in July 2013, when the organization was still called mousesports. The team made this feat possible with two stand-ins in the roster: Daniel “Ghost” Chan and Oleh “kaori” Medvedok.

The team’s last Tier 1 win, RaidCall EMS One Summer Season, was a dominant showing against every other team in the competition. In this tournament, MOUZ wasn’t as untouchable as before, even losing its first game in the playoffs against PARIVISION, dropping them down to the lower bracket very early.

MOUZ’s true potential in this tournament was unlocked after the defeat against PARIVISION. After that, they swept through HEROIC and OG. In the lower bracket semifinals, the team had to fight BetBoom Team, the defending champion of PGL Wallachia. MOUZ was able to avoid elimination by performing a reverse sweep against the champions, ending the series 2-1.

The team’s biggest hurdle was waiting for them in the Grand Final of the tournament: Team Spirit. They won this year’s Esports World Cup 2025 Dota 2 tournament, defeating the crowd favorite Team Falcons in the grand final in a 3-0 fashion. The team also has two Tier 1 tournament wins this year alone, to add to its already impressive resume.

MOUZ lost the first match against Team Spirit in a 50+ minute marathon of a game. The team fired back and took games two and three, before Team Spirit stopped their momentum and won game four. MOUZ powered through the fifth game and eventually won it, finally getting its first Tier 1 win in years.

Just two days after winning the title, MOUZ is now competing in the BLAST Slam V, where they are currently 2-0 in the group stage, beating both NAVI and XG.

OG, a team that didn’t survive the previous PGL Wallachia’s group stage, is now looking to be a strong contender for this tournament, as they are also currently undefeated. However, they will be up against another team that’s undefeated, Team Liquid.

Key points

  1. Team Falcons won its first TI trophy after defeating Xtreme Gaming at TI 2025.
  2. Skiter and Sneyking are now two-time TI champions.
  3. With the win, Team Falcons took home $1.1 million.

Team Falcons finally secured its first Dota 2 The International trophy just two years after the team’s creation. The win made Oliver “Skiter” Lepko and Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu two-time TI champions, while the other three members, Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak, Ammar “ATF” A-lAssaf and Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen, claimed their first.

The team had a slow start compared to their eventual grand final opponent, Xtreme Gaming. For comparison, Xtreme Gaming’s group stage had a perfect 4-0 record, while Team Falcons went 3-2, which means they had to play in the elimination round.

Team Falcons won their elimination round against Team Spirit, their grand final opponent at the Esports World Cup 2025, sending the latter home. In the playoffs, they had to fight against Team Tidebound, BB Team and Pvision to punch their ticket to the grand final.

Xtreme Gaming, on the other hand, fell to the lower bracket after a defeat from Pvision, where they had to fight BB Team and Pvision to claw their way back to the grand final to fight Team Falcons.

The International’s 2025 grand final was a rollercoaster for both sides. One-sided games were apparent, with Xtreme Gaming taking the first one, followed by a win from Team Falcons. Xtreme Gaming then followed with another beating, putting them on series point.

Team Falcons had some fight left in them, however, and beat the team in just 33 minutes, the fastest game in the grand final series. The win forced a decider match, which turned out to be the longest game in the series. It ended after 58 minutes, with Team Falcons coming out on top.

The win gave Team Falcons around 42% of the prize pool, which is equivalent to $1.1 million. Xtreme Gaming took home only 13%, or around $350,000.

The International 2025 (TI14), the annual Dota 2 world championship, started in Germany at Hamburg’s Barclays Arena on Sept. 11, 2025.

Following four straight days of sixteen five-on-five teams battling their way through the Road to the International: Playoffs, Xtreme Gaming, BB Team, Team Tidebound, Heroic, Pvision, Nigma Galaxy, Tundra Esports, and Team Falcons will fight in a double-elimination bracket, with all matches except the Grand Final being best-of-three, while the Grand Final set for Sept. 14, 2025 will be best-of-five.

Known simply as TI within the esports community, The International is produced by the game’s developer, Valve, during which teams compete for the symbolic Aegis of Champions, a physical trophy forged out of bronze and silver by Weta Workshop, which will be engraved with the names of each player on the winning team.

Besides the winning glory and the trophy, teams are also fighting for a massive prize pool, which has seen a slight decrease in recent years due to Valve’s decision to discontinue the Battle Pass system, which previously contributed significantly to the prize pool through community funding. The International 2024 (TI13) featured a total prize pool of $2,602,164, marking the lowest since 2013, while TI14’s prize pool drops even lower, at $2,590,670.

Return to Germany marks a significant milestone in TI’s history, as the event revisits the country where it all began as the initial event of The International in 2011 took place at Gamescom in the German city of Cologne, where Natus Vincere secured the first-ever championship title.

Winners chart for previous years:

  • The International 2024 – Team Liquid
  • The International 2023 – Team Spirit
  • The International 2022 – Tundra Esports
  • The International 2021 – Team Spirit

  • The International 2014 – Newbee
  • The International 2013 – Alliance
  • The International 2012 – Invictus Gaming

Team Liquid, the reigning champions from TI13, won’t defend their title, as they didn’t make it through the playoffs and the qualification process.

Key points

  1. Tundra Esports wins Blast Slam III, defeating Team Falcons with a 3:1 score.
  2. Victory at Blast Slam III makes Tundra Esports back-to-back champions as it follows their win at Blast Slam II earlier this year.
  3. Martin “Saksa” Sazdov became the tournament’s MVP.

Tundra Esports outplayed Team Falcons at the Grand Finals of Blast Slam III on May 11, 2025, and secured a victory with a 3:1 score, becoming Dota 2 tournament’s back-to-back champions.

In Game One, Falcons came in with an idea to pick Dark Seer to disrupt Razor and Medusa, using Surge ability to give Falcons the speed to reset fights and avoid Razor’s damage steal. All they needed was for Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf to play it slow, soak some EXP, and join the team later. But he didn’t manage to wait, which led to a pair of early deaths before hitting level two, which threw the plan off entirely, and then Tundra kept him down and out of every team fight and won the game.

Blast Slam III’s Game Two turned into Martin “Saksa” Sazdov’s show. Tundra’s support player dominated the laning phase and orchestrated kills across the map with surgical precision on Tusk. Falcons held on longer this time and even managed to swing a few fights their way, but Saksa’s constant presence gave Tundra the edge, and his performance made him match’s MVP.

The proper response from the Falcons finally came in Game Three. The Saudi esports team flipped the script with a draft built to disrupt Saksa, and it worked flawlessly. They didn’t leave Tundra a chance with the coordinated work of Ursa and Crystal Maiden’s shocking impact. Still, this game’s most memorable moment wasn’t the Falcons’ win as Atf uncovered yet another map bug, this time one that stopped Pangolier from bouncing properly.

The last encounter, Game Four, was closed out by Tundra’s Phantom Assassin, using Fan of Knives to slice through Falcons’ tanky cores, bringing the UK team their second Blast Slam win in a row.

Key points

  1. Team Liquid wins PGL Wallachia back-to-back, denying a reverse sweep from Paravision.
  2. The winners took home $300,000 from the $1-million prize pool of PGL Wallachia Season 4.
  3. The next tier 1 tournament of Dota 2 is Blast Slam III.

Team Liquid ended its losing streak against Paravision at PGL Wallachia Season 4 by taking the final win and denying a reverse sweep from happening. Their win here makes them the back-to-back champions of PGL Wallachia.

Paravision had a great run in the tournament, sweeping its competition to the side, including Team Liquid, which they sent to the lower bracket during the upper bracket final. Team Liquid fought against Tundra Esports and won 2-0, which granted them a second chance at redemption against Paravision.

The Grand Final started with Team Liquid winning the first two games. But Paravision answered with a swift two-game winning streak, threatening Team Liquid with a potential reverse sweep. The boys in blue jerseys had to fight a grueling 72-minute game to close the series 3-2.

Exhilarating grand final match aside, a serious Dota 2 bug happened during Aurora Gaming and Paravision’s match. After Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko took the Devil’s Bargain facet on Doom, he was not able to buy it back at a crucial time due to the facet not working properly and making his buyback cost more than it was supposed to.

The tournament organizers, PGL, decided to resume the game. But Paravision could not attack Aurora Gaming or push for 95 seconds, so Doom was able to respawn. Aurora Gaming did not agree with the decision and forfeited the match, which sent them to the lower bracket of the tournament.

Team Liquid took home $300,000 from the $1-million prize pool of the tournament. Paravision took home $175,000, while Tundra Esports pocketed $120,000 in third place. The next tier 1 Dota 2 tournament is Blast Slam III.
