Coral Sea Campaign

The Japanese search planes again contacted the remains of the Allied Task Force 3 - which had fled due west rather than south and out of range of the attackers. The Zuikaku's attack planes were again launched and attacked the survivors. The heavy cruiser HMAS Australia, and the two destroyers USN Perkins and USN Walke were all sunk. The loses to the Japanese in this final attack on Task Force 3 - nothing. More futile searching occurred for other fleet elements. The Allies launched one attack flight, but it failed to find any targets.
